If you’re looking for pick-up basketball games with the type of competition that pumps adrenaline throughout your body, Brea Sports Park is the spot.

Brea Sports Park features two basketball courts side by side. The rules at these courts are slightly different than anywhere I have played. They use one court as a winner’s court. On the second court, they battle it out to determine who will make it to the winner’s court. The winning team from the winner’s court and the second court’s winning team play a game to decide who will stay on the winner’s court to face the next challengers. These unique rules induce ferocious competition as teams strive to be the kings of the winner’s court for as long as possible.

The courts at Brea Sports Park are among the few courts that have not shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic. Pick-up games are still played throughout the week from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The courts currently have a sign up that reads, “Play at your own risk.” The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention strongly advise people to practice social distancing to reduce coronavirus spread. You can go to the park during slower hours if you are looking for an empty, open court to practice individually.

If competition is what you crave and you want to prove you have what it takes to be king of the court, look to Brea Sports park for intense pick-up basketball games.
